Clash-free MEPF models and shop drawings for a multi-storey hospital project save time and cost for engineering contracting company in Ireland

Solution.

Based on scope of work identified and documented for models and drawings across Plumbing, HVAC, Mechanical piping and Fire protection disciplines, the HitechDigital engineers submitted accurate sets of deliverables at different stages of the project. The project was completed within the defined timelines, meeting quality benchmarks.

Approach.

• The team at HitechDigital studied the designer’s mark-up drawings and 2D basic drawings received as inputs from the client.
• Using Revit, they created Plumbing and HVAC models with detailed information on pipe fittings as per project standards and space requirements to ensure hassle-free installation.
• The team created equipment supported families, based on a manufacturer datasheet and placed it in the model for accurate spatial coordination.
• Once the 3D Revit MEP model was created, the team ensured that they were clash-free and coordinated. Using Navisworks, clash-detection reports were generated, which were sent to the client for review.
• The finalized and approved model was then used to extract shop drawings, sections, BOQ, which were submitted to the client in PDF/DWG format.
• Detailed spool, module, schematic, builders works drawings with sections were also generated.
• Multi-level quality checks against pre-defined parameters were conducted to ensure accuracy.
• Using BIM360, the client was able to manage and suggest real-time modifications. BIM 360 also kept all stakeholders on the same page.
